When was BookMyShow Foundation established and what is the nature of the entity?
BookMyShow Foundation is registered as a not for profit entity under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 and it is established in February 2024 and running under the brand name BookAChange.
How does BookMyShow Foundation obtain its funds?
Our work is powered by the generosity of individuals, philanthropists, corporations, and institutions. Voluntary contributors are also welcome. Please visit our Donation page to show your support.
Does BookMyShow Foundation support only Indian Organizations and NGOs or International Organizations and NGOs as well?
We only work with Indian registered companies, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Trusts.
Does BookMyShow Foundation conducts any third-party audits or evaluations under law?
Yes. We are committed to transparency and accountability and follow all the mandatory compliance requirements as provided under applicable laws.
Eligibility criteria for BookAChange music scholarship?
(a) Applicant must be an Indian national.
(b) Applicant must meet the education criteria of the music institute they are applying to.
(c) Applicant must be of 16 years and above age.
(d) Must demonstrate musical talent & excellence in the field in which they are seeking a scholarship.
(e) Must be committed to building a career in music.
(f) Applicant’s total or combined annual family household income (i.e., (father, mother, siblings and spouse) must be below Rs. 8,00,000/- (Rupees Eight Lakhs only).
(g) Satisfy all the conditions of Scholarship Guidelines.
Who all are considered for calculation of ‘annual family household income’?
Includes the person seeking the benefit, their parents, siblings and spouse.
What all costs are covered under the BookAChange music scholarship?
The scholarship covers only tuition fees for the music course / programs offered by recognized and accredited institutes in India.
What type of music courses or programs are eligible for the BookAChange music scholarship?
The scholarship supports a wide range of music programs, including vocal and instrumental training, music production, sound engineering, and the business of music. It also covers technical and industry-focused music courses offered by recognized and government accredited institutes.
Is the BookAChange music scholarship applicable to offline (in-person) courses, online courses, or both?
Yes, the scholarship supports both online and offline (in-person) courses conducted by accredited and registered Indian music Institutes.
Is there a fee for availing BookAChange music scholarship?
No. It is completely free for applicants satisfying the scholarship guidelines.
Does the BookAChange music scholarship cover musical instruments or other equipment?
No, the scholarship is limited to covering course tuition fees only.
Can I apply for a BookAChange Music Scholarship if I haven’t secured admission or received an acceptance letter from the recognized or accredited Indian music institute?
Yes, you may apply for a music scholarship without a confirmed admission. However, if selected for the music scholarship program, you must then submit an official admission or acceptance letter from the accredited and registered Indian music institute immediately, without which BookMyShow Foundation will not disburse the scholarship. Failure to provide the required documents within the specified timelines, will result in withdrawal/rejection of your scholarship.
Can students currently studying in class 11 and/or 12th standard (junior college) apply for the BookAChange music scholarship?
Yes, anyone aged 16 years and above can apply for the BookAChange music scholarship.
What is the duration of the BookAChange music scholarship support?
The scholarship supports the full duration of the music program / course (up to 1 year) offered by accredited and registered Indian music institute.
If the course duration is longer than 1 year, then based on the progress of the student, BookMyShow Foundation will extend the support for the remaining course duration provided a fresh scholarship application is made for the consecutive year of the same course. This is subject to satisfying the criteria of the Scholarship Guidelines.
Does the applicant need to have a prior academic education to apply for a BookAChange music scholarship?
Subject to satisfying the eligibility criteria provided under the Scholarship Guidelines, the applicant is eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Can I reapply for the BookAChange music scholarship if my application is rejected on prior occasions?
Yes. If you meet the eligibility criteria provided in the Scholarship Guidelines, then you are welcome to reapply in future cycles.
Does BookMyShow Foundation issue graduation certificates?
No. Certificates are given by the training or educational institute. BookMyShow Foundation only provides financial support.
Can I apply for both the BookAChange Music Scholarship and Skilling Scholarship Program at the same time?
No. You can only apply for any one scholarship program at a time.
When do applications for the BookAChange music scholarship open?
Applications open in September each year and close on 31st December of the same year.
What is the expected timeline for completion of the BookAChange music scholarship selection process?
The selection process typically takes up to 3 months from the date of application. Timelines may extend depending on the submission of documents and responsiveness of the applicant.
Can I update my application once submitted on the portal?
No. Once submitted, applications cannot be edited. We recommend reviewing all details carefully before submitting the application.
Will the interview be in person or online?
Interviews may be conducted either in person or online, depending on applicant’s location. Applicants based in Mumbai are required to attend the interview in person, while those from other cities can appear for the interview online.
If the donations are made by mistake on the website (i.e. www.bookachange.org) then can I get a refund?
We do not offer refunds. Your contribution, however, is deeply appreciated and goes directly toward supporting our initiatives.
Can I direct my donation to a specific cause or project?
Yes, donations can be directed towards specific causes or projects. Our ‘Donation’ page under ‘Support A Mission – Donate to a Cause’ section provides a list of causes supported under our charter.
Is there a minimum or maximum donation amount?
The minimum donation amount is Rs. 100/-. There is no upper limit.
How will my donation be used?
Your donation supports our ongoing programs and initiatives (as per our charter). We ensure every contribution is used efficiently to create real, measurable impact. Learn more under our ‘Programs’ page on the website.
Can international donors contribute to BookMyShow Foundation?
Currently, we do not accept donations from individuals or organisations registered or situated outside India.
Are donations eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G?
Yes, BookMyShow Foundation is registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Income Tax Act, making donations eligible for tax deductions as per prevailing Indian tax laws. Donors will receive a receipt with the required details for claiming tax benefits.
Who can claim the 80G benefit?
80G benefits can be claimed by the individual or organization from whose bank account the donation was made.
When will I receive my 10BE / 80G certificate?
The 10BE / 80G certificate is issued after Form 10BD is filed on or before May 31 of the following financial year.
